Living Out Loud Authentically Takes Time | Makesensemess 2024

On Friday November 1st 2024 from 12 to 3 PM Eastern we will gather sensemakers from around the world to pay our annual respect to the delicate art of sensemaking, and bask in the camaraderie of others who make sense of messes and feel the frustration of how long change really takes.

Once the room is nice and warm, it will be time to introduce this year’s brave sensemakers, each of whom will share a short story about a mess where a critical element was time. They have harrowing tales of what it takes to wrangle bibliometrics, how to sell a taxonomy to an organization built on lacksnomy and what to do after you sold it, what it takes to be your authentic self out loud and why sometimes it isn’t safe to do so, what to do if you ever get permission to govern content only to discover its managed in an Airtable, and how hard it is to make sense of modern dating culture.
